Hokkaido is the northernmost island of Japan with four distinct seasons, and a rich fertile soil. Hokkaido was settled only about 120 years ago, which is not long when compared to the rest of Japan, but it has continued to independently develop Japanese farming methods together with American style large scale farms. Our location in Asahikawa is right at the foot of Asahidake, Hokkaido’s highest mountain which provides a plentiful supply of potable snow melt water that flows into our farming area and greatly supports our production. It is upon this rich and fertile land of about 130 hectares where we have been growing our rice, asparagus, corn, herbs and many other crops since 21 years ago.
Since the founding of Muminmura, not only have we been producing fine agricultural products, but we have also developed our own marketing channels for selling our rice and vegetables throughout all of Japan. As you know, the health and safety aspects of Japanese food products are experiencing a profound and unprecedented worldwide boom.
Based on this situation, we believe or mission is as follows:
“To widen the distribution of our food products and premium sake, made with our unique special rice, throughout the world, while blending it all together with other cultures.”
In order to achieve this mission, we began to sell our premium Junmai Daiginjyo-shu (The highest quality of Japanese sake) called “iki” in New York City in May of 2011. “iki” is 100% made from a specially cultivated rice called “GinPuu” which is grown just for this purpose, and this purpose only.
We aim to create new synergies with the export of our specially cultivated rice and unique rice wine throughout the world.
Also, we believe in the many possibilities of our agricultural knowhow, and we will be trying many new products and services in the near future.
